Time zones

Sometimes the time difference is fantastic for getting work done, and other times it kicks my butt. The latter took place today.

Flor squares

Today I finally had a little bit of time to get caught up on life, which included putting my Flor squares down. I haven't decided if the squares are in the right order yet, but they are pretty cool!

Saturday, 8/4

Yesterday was spent under a deadline. This was my view most of the day.

Friday, 8/3/12

This weekend I was under a pretty insane deadline for a client, so posting my photo of the day got put on the back-burner temporarily.

On Friday night Megan and I got awesome tickets to the Nats game from a guy on our hockey team and we had a blast! Our seats were on the fancy club level directly behind home plate and we felt like we could call balls and strikes. On top of that, it was a double-header and the first game went late so we ended up getting to see 1.5 games. All in all, a great Friday night!

Thanks for the tickets, Gary!

Holy cow! It's really happening!

Megan and I put an awesome project up on kickstarter and it went live tonight! We have spent the last couple of months planning, writing, filming, editing, and getting all of our ducks in a row. Now it is in the hands of the public and we just have to hope we get the funding! (Remember all of those strange photos with little to no explanation? Yeah, they were probably during out filming, but check out the video from the link to confirm).

For those of you who aren't familiar with kickstarter, here are the key things to know:
- crowd-source funding for projects and inventions with donation levels starting as low as $1
- all projects must have a tangible reward that the backer receives
- funding is all or nothing... if you don't meet your goal, you get nothing and no one gets charged
- payments are handled through Amazon so most people already have the info saved on their computer

We think this project is a really cool and unique idea and hope you will support it- check out our kickstarter page to learn more! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/589296080/destination-inspiration (there is a video for us visual folk and a written description for those who prefer to read, although we recommend doing both!)

More posts to follow.

Brilliant and entirely too smart

Ingrid's typical attire includes at least 3 shades of pink, 2 patterns, and a handful of glitter and rhinestones, so it was odd that she was dressed in all white today (shoes included and lacking any jewelry). She later explained that in honor of her first trip to the dentist, she was dressed like a tooth.

Doesn't everyone dress like a tooth on their first trip to the dentist?!

After the dentist Ingrid decided to spend the day in the office and generally likes spending time at my desk. She was playing around and typing on my other computer and turned to me and said, "if you want to be my assistant, you have to be productive." WHOA. Where did that come from, and how did I become the assistant?! Soon after she started redecorating her side of my desk.

What is the world coming to?

I just can't get enough!

Watching USA soccer on tv while streaming the women's gymnastic team finals. I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!

So! Close!

Megan and I are launching a kickstarter project (www.kickstarter.com) next week, and I think our video is finally, FINALLY done! I'll post a link once its up and running, but a lot of the strange pictures lately have been coming from our hours of filming for this video. We both find the video to be quite entertaining :-)

FH under the lights

I played some pickup field hockey tonight after my floor hockey game... Needless to say, I should be able to sleep tonight!

Oh, you know

I'm going to pretend it is perfectly normal to be shooting some video featuring a mailbox. Yep, completely, 100% normal.

It came, it came, it came!

My fancy new computer arrived today and I couldn't be more excited! Someone in the office said I was probably more excited than I will be on my wedding day, and, well, its very possible :-)

Pug gate

My parents still don't have power, and Ellie the pug just wasn't handling the heat well, so she came to the office with me and Carter. While an inflatable walrus wouldn't be a sufficient gate for most dogs (even pugs), it kept the Diva contained.

Full disclosure: she spent most of the day sleeping under Carter's desk and probably didn't notice that the walrus even existed.

Powerless weekend (7-1-12)

Pretty much no one in the city of Alexandria had power, so I felt particularly lucky to have such a MacGyver Dad. Even though my parents didn't have power, they had some industrial fans running off a generator, and more importantly, a charging station for our Apple products.

Powerless weekend (6-30-12)

In addition to losing power, most of our cell phones also stopped working. Carter and Jon had to borrow Ing and Liesl's play phone just so they could have a working landline.

Back to my roots

Every now and then its nice to get away from the computer and go back to drawing by hand... even if its going to be scanned into the computer later :-)

I wish I bruised in Pantone

I try to avoid posting pictures of my bruises because I know how much it grosses my grandparents out, but this is too entertaining to keep to myself!

Prettier than my bruises

I was at Carter's twice today... the first time to see the girls playing outside and being cute, the second to get ice for my bruises post-hockey game. Yeah, its really nice living so close!
