Ingrid needed her nail polish touched up (not even kidding, and it wasn't optional in her book) and her hair brushed, so we pretended we were at the salon.

365, Day 137
Bug had sclera therapy today. The procedure itself went well, but we won't know if it worked until her next MRI.
I like details. A lot. Particularly medical details, which is strange because I never had any desire to be a doctor. I think it must be the nerd part of me that likes to understand how and why things work the way they do. Anyhow, poor Carter has had to deal with me constantly asking her questions (and thankfully she answers them as best she can!). I try to hold back, I really do, but there are so many things I want to know! Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of answers floating around updates are rather minimal (its the nature of the situation, not lack of understanding or knowledge on anyone's part).

Liesy Bug
It has been a very long week for the Liesl Bug and her parents...
Monday- Liesl stopped breathing and went to the hospital
Wednesday morning- discharged from hospital
Wednesday evening- doctors called and said they wanted her back (and thank god they did!)
Thursday- breathing tube put in, MRI, sclera therapy, and then in the PICU
Today- still being a good patient in the PICU
Bug was supposed to have sclera therapy this morning but it got postponed due to a scheduling snafu. Don't even get me started on how the schedule got screwed up... I am NOT happy about it, and I'm not even the parent, nor am I the one with Liesl in the PICU! Carter was equally unhappy when I talked to her tonight. Of all the places that need to have a precise schedule, I'm going to go ahead and say that a hospital should be leading the pack! Grrrrr!
Sclera now scheduled for tomorrow morning. If it doesn't happen, I have decided that a very grumpy Ingrid and I will march in there and wreak havoc until the Bug gets taken care of. I mentioned this to Carter and she decided that either things will happen very quickly to make up for lost time, or we will get kicked out.
Two things need to happen tomorrow:
1. Liesl needs to have her sclera therapy on time (no more of this stopping her feedings nonsense and then not doing the procedure!)
2. it needs to be amazingly and completely successful so that she can come home already!
Please keep the prayers / good vibes / thoughts / support coming!
365, Crazy Rain
Crappy weather takes on an entirely new meaning once you become a commuter. It started to POUR 10 minutes before it was time to go, of course. Luckily it let up enough to make a dash to the metro, and by the time I was walking home it was a pretty blue sky and dry pavement. A bit of the rain followed me, but by the time it showed up in AVA, I was inside and dry.

Sunday Update
Ando and Matt brought dinner over to my parents house, and it was absolutely delicious! BBQ chicken, amazing corn casserole, and equally amazing brownies! EVERYONE cleaned their plates- thanks so much Ando and Matt! Funny side note-- Carter tried to have Lucy vacuum the crumbs on Ing's skirt after dinner, and despite being too picky to eat the crumbs, she tolerated Ingrid petting her and giving her a kiss. Tolerated is about the best way to put it because her eyes were bulging out of her head and she was trying to retract her neck in the same fashion as a turtle. Carter decided to give Lucy a treat for being gentle with Ingrid, and what could be better than a tiny piece of the chicken?! Carter and Ingrid each had a small piece and Carter showed Ingrid how to give it to Lucy and that she would be gentle. Ingrid decided that the chicken was too good to share, and instead ate it herself. Talk about a compliment!
Bug is being a good patient in the PICU. Tomorrow she has another round of sclera therapy to hopefully get the cyst that is pushing on her airway. Please put in an extra prayer for her tonight- we need this to be successful!

365, Rediscovery
Another chunk of time with Rachel, another chunk of stuff rediscovered. This is my favorite color wheel from college because it combines typography and color. Oh, and it was painted by hand and the center parts (the "ears" of the G) are cut from magazines. My OCD and love of design played nice on this project!

More Girl Time
Ingrid came over this afternoon for some more girl time, which allowed Carter and Jon to have dinner and make another run by the hospital.
Lindsay stopped by to meet Ing, but she (Ingrid, not Linds) was grumpy and not her usual outgoing self. As luck would have it, she turned into an entertaining goofball after dinner. Here are a few pictures from tonight.

We had a special picnic dinner that included scrambled eggs, wheat thins, cheesy bread, water in a princess cup, and some tv.
She managed to spot this on top of one of my shelves (I had forgotten it was there) and needed it to be a princess.
She decided to give me a pretend hair cut, and here she has wrapped my head in a towel. We aren't sure how she even knows about the hair cut / salon process.
When she put the crown on me, I knew the rest of the night would be ok.
We walked to get ice cream, which may have been the highlight of both of our nights. She followed in her Mom's and my footsteps with rainbow sherbet with rainbow sprinkles!
Among the things I have found in my archaeological dig, otherwise known as sorting things, was this gift certificate from 1992. I tried to use it tonight, but they said it wasn't valid since there was no expiration date (backwards, I know). Anyway, they were excited when I let them keep it as a piece of history, probably from before they were born. When did I get so old?!
Play with others?
Posted on facebook the other day but forgot to post here... Lucy is rather terrified of things that are 1. unpredictable, 2. move and make noise, and 3. things named Ingrid.
Ingrid didn't let that stop her from their conversation.
Hey Cecily, be. patient.
Best part is around 1:10.

Finally, Blogger! (365 from Yesterday)
Last night when I went to post my photo blogger was down and no one could post or edit posts. Now that it is finally (momentarily) back up, here is POTD from yesterday.
Last night Ingrid and I painted our toe nails (thankfully Abby had some pink fast-dry polish that she let us use) and had some girl time. Ingrid insisted on helping, so it was mostly my toes that got painted. While they were drying she looked down at her toes and said "oh my mommy will be so excited!"
Bug is in the PICU and has a breathing tube. Hoping to do another round of sclera therapy today or Monday. Please keep her in your thoughts!

365, (Yesterday- Gah!)
Super bummed that I forgot to ACTUALLY post this!
Yesterday was a double-frap kind of day and I finished both in record time.

Sigh, Spoke Too Soon
Bug is headed back to Children's and will have an MRI in the morning. Monkey is headed back to Mimi's for another sleepover. (Apparently Carter was updating Ingrid and Ing's first question was if she could go back to Mimi's- best question she could have asked!)
Home less than 10 hours. Keep them in your thoughts, please!

Liesl Bug is Home!
Hooray!!!
Although I have barely talked to Carter or Jon, Liesl looks like she was a pretty good patient and in high spirits from the photos. I don't know what I would have done without photo updates and FaceTime- thank god for iPhones!
SO incredibly happy that she is ok and home!!!

"She had a little problem..."
We asked Ingrid what happened to Liesl, and this was her response. Somehow, she was pretty unfazed by it, which is nothing short of amazing.

365, In a Nutshell (or something)
Ing and I sent this picture to Carter, Jon, and Liesl. While it won't likely be on the cover of Vogue, its good for a laugh.
Bug is hanging in there but has to stay another night. Monkey at Mimi's again.
Rob came to my office for a surprise visit and even tried to bring me my favorite italian ice flavor (they were all out). He is amazing. The end.
Oh, and it looks like Casey's ribs are just bruised, not broken. In Alex's words, "they got bumped."

Hang in There, Bug!
The Bug is hanging in there but in the hospital. The Monkey is staying at Mimi's tonight. Do baby books have a page for first ambulance ride?
Scary stuff. Send good thoughts.

Happy Mother's Day!
From my Ninja Turtle days to helping me plan outfits for my grown-up job, my mom has always been there and taught me the importance of believing. Love you Mom!
