365, 4-Eyes

Got my glasses a week earlier than expected!

Another Reason to Love Photoshop

On our way back from Salisbury, the three of us were discussing bucket lists and places we want to go. Kelly is DYING to go to Niagara Falls. I have been twice and absolutely loved it, which of course hightened her desire to go. In addition, her boyfriend just got a new car- hello, road trip! Work was quiet yesterday so I whipped this sucker out in photoshop in an effort to help convince him to drive to Canada.

The best part was when Kelly walked by my computer and saw it and said, "But wait, I haven't been there yet!"

Ah, the power of photoshop.

365, Share Size?!

Whoever created "share size" has not met me. It really just means the bag is large enough to last through lunch time, but not much beyond that.

[For the record, I DID share some with Megan and Kelly... they were saving me from myself!]

365, Brilliant

Snagged an extra one of these from Chick-fil-a and ate it today (with other food, of course) at lunch. It is hands-down the best packaging and design for individual ketchup packets. You can tear off the end and squeeze, or pull back the top and dip. BRILLIANT.

Oldie but a Goodie

I have had this on my desktop as a reminder to post it, and quite frankly, I'm tired of seeing it on my desktop :-)

One of my former coworkers and a customer's computer.

The "Real" Photos from the 'Bury

Some pics from our last trip to Salisbury.

Part of the Chinatown office.

3/4 of Comm Team (Kaitlin was getting married).

KG won two Stevie awards, and man, they are HEAVY!

Photoshop Magic

I love photoshop for many reasons. Here are two of them:

1. I can remove ugly light fixtures and antennas.

2. When the photo isn't wide enough, I can extend the background.

365, Peaches

I rarely buy peaches because in my head they require lots of work for not much food, like crab meat, but tonight I was reminded otherwise. It was much more work in my head, but I am thankful on a daily basis that my head is not always right. They have been sitting in my fridge for about 2 weeks now (procrastinate much?) but they were absolutely delicious!

Also, I miss my Princess Peaches!

365, Magformers

I got to spend the afternoon with the Runkle family today! I have always had a great time playing with David and his toys, and today it was all about the magformers. We made everything from spaceships to sea creatures and fish.

When I first got to their house, David and I had a quick exchange that went something like this:
Me- how did you break your arm?
David- I was doing a superhero trick on the slide.
Me- Wow, that must have been a pretty big trick!
David- Well, its a pretty big break.

Thanks for a great afternoon, Runkle crew!

365, Four-Eyes

The last few weeks my eyes have been aching a lot and causing a fair amount of discomfort, so today I went to the optometrist to have them checked. Sure enough, I need glasses. Goodbye, perfect vision! I won't have to wear them all the time (thankfully), but since the majority of my waking hours are spent on the computer, glasses will have to be my new favorite accessory.

While my eyes were dilating, they had me pick out my frames. By this point my eyes hurt and things are more blurry than usual, so attempting to make a decision, or even know where to start, was a challenge. The guy helping me would pull out a pair, look at them on my face, and then say if they fit or not. After 3 or 4 times going through this exercise, we found a pair that he ok'd the fit and the look was fine by me. I was a little bit surprised by how easy-going I was being about the look, so hopefully I will still like them enough when they are ready to be picked up.

While trying on frames and waiting for my pupils to dilate all the way I looked in the mirror, and man, did I get a surprise! One of my pupils was not completely centered anymore! My first reaction was to try to take a picture so that I could look at it more closely later (and possibly to have a really weird photo of the day). Well, I took a picture but it didn't come out- not surprising since I couldn't see anything within close range, but a total bummer!

Glasses should be here in about 10 days, which translates to an end to aching eyeballs is in sight! (no pun intended, really.)

The blur at the top and bottom of the photo was how it looked while I was trying to pick out my frames. Hard to be picky when they all look the same!

I've Been Slacking

I have no doubt that Liesl is currently accepting applications and interviewing candidates to be her new publicist because I am not cutting it these days. When I don't post an update, it translates to no news is good news. That being said, I will try to work a bit harder to maintain my position as her fan club president.

Hard day at the office.

Got this gem in my inbox this morning with the following caption: "There are some intense negotiations happening in my office... Who will hold out longer, Liesl or Rex the dino?! A supersize bottle is on the line!"

365, Wedding Invite

I was pleasantly surprised to find something in the mail other than a bill today, and I can't wait for Lindsay's big day in August! And Linds- LOVE the dingbats and flourishes and swash characters in your names!

Oh, Salisbury

I have been to Salisbury twice for work now, and both times it has given me some new sights. Here are some of the pictures from my phone (in no particular order)-- the "real" pictures are on my work computer and will have to wait.

Breakfast #1 this morning (Hampton Inn free breakfast).

Breakfast #2 today- mini chicken biscuits with honey and tiny hash browns.

Weather posted in the elevator at the Hampton Inn. Unfortunately, it is the weather for Orlando.

All-star baseball game sign- and its on an old school reader board! (The company was once centered on such reader boards in hotels.)

The "view" from Kelly and Nathalie's room. Pretty, but not much going on in the Bury.

Not fun lugging all this stuff on the bus and metro- I blame the 4 cameras I brought.

"If you are not handicap, please open the door manually."

"Coffee is for sales people on pace."

365, Back From the 'Bury

The best part about this trip was that I didn't have to drive at all! Thanks Megan and Kelly!

365, Doesn't Everyone Travel Like This?

Kelly, Megan and I drove to Salisbury this morning for our Town Hall meeting, and luckily I am the designated photographer. I love it. In preparation, I brought, well, a few extra cameras.

Staying in Salisbury tonight, then back to DC tomorrow.

365, Upgrade

This is my second season playing ball hockey, and I decided that I had passed the trial period and could now justify buying an inexpensive (but real!) hockey stick. Previously, I was playing with a street hockey stick (plastic foot and all) and I am sure I looked rather ridiculous. I'm short enough that I could get a junior size stick AND it was on sale, so I'm pleased with my purchase. It will certainly take some getting used to though!

So True

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. I was a bit (ok, more than a bit) bummed to find that of the 10,000+ photos in my iphoto library right now, I only had a couple of my dad. And, they were all from last summer when he was in the hospital, so they aren't exactly happy or good photos. That needs to change. Love you Dad!

365, Kitchen Creativity

When I get creative, particularly in the kitchen, one never knows what will result. Tonight I made some noodles, and then chopped up some tomatoes and my leftover sweet and sour chicken. I topped it off with sweet and sour sauce and a little bit of catalina dressing. While it was ok, I don't think I will be working it into my regular meal rotation. At least it polished off the leftovers!

365, My Watch Finally Came!

It took a long time to find, and what seemed like an even longer time to finally arrive, but I'm loving my new watch!

Another Book Finished

Finished another book yesterday on my way to work- 50 Jobs in 50 States. Extremely interesting view into 50 very different jobs and lifestyles across America. Broken down into small chapters so it isn't hard to get to a good breaking point and put it down.

In other news, I think my eyes are finally failing me. I had reading glasses for a brief period in 3rd grade, but otherwise have been blessed with near perfect vision. I think my luck has finally run out and a visit to the optomestrist will be required in the very near future. After reading or working on the computer, my eyes HURT! It feels like my eyes keep crossing by mistake (I don't think they actually are) and the pain is reminiscent of crossing your eyes for too long when you were a kid. Needless to say, it is not comfortable!

365, Shoofly Pie

Amazing. Delicious. So yummy. I would eat it for 3 meals a day if I could. Thanks Gitsy and Poppa!

And Now, Some Photos

Luckily the power only flickered last night, but I was way too tired to post any of the pictures from the game. It was supposed to be an activity with coworkers, but 4 of the planned 7 ended up bailing for various reasons (most were valid reasons). It ended up being me, Kaitlin, and Megan.

By lunch time yesterday I had the list of concessions up on my screen so that I could plan exactly what I wanted to eat and how to spend my money. I was a bit nervous when I couldn't find the funnel cakes in the stadium, but rest assured, I found them!

It stopped raining by the time the game started, but not for long. Part way through the game someone hit a homer, and just at that moment, there was suddenly a torrential down pour. The timing was so amazing, that I looked up thinking it was a movie set and someone was dumping water.

Despite being a little soggy, a good time was had by all!

365, Nats Game

Trying to post quickly before power potentially goes out due to the storm!

365, Love My Nook!

This thing goes EVERYWHERE with me. I no longer dread waiting for public transportation because it means I get to read. This morning when I got to work I thought to myself, "Man, I can't wait until lunch time so I can read a few more pages."... One of my nerdier statements, for sure, but I'm ok with that.

365, Pulled from Retirement

I hung up my whistle and swore off coaching a couple of years ago (nothing bad happened- was just time to move on), but my neighbor begged and pleaded and somehow convinced me to coach again. The "season" only goes through July, it is 2 nights/week for 1 hour each time, and it is rec league. This translates to a relaxed and fun atmosphere, no long bus trips traveling to games, and much less intense parents. One of my players from my days of coaching the Freshman team is a coach of one of the other teams, so I feel like it has gone full circle.

I had to dig my field hockey stick out of my parents basement, but I found it!

365, Portrait Gallery

No, I didn't actually go INSIDE the Portrait Gallery, I just walked by it.

365, Trying to be Healthy

I'm trying to get back on track with healthy eating and at least a little bit of exercise, but both are painful. I went for another run today and like yesterday, I questioned what on earth was making me do this. There is a cool app called Nike+ GPS on my phone, and it tells me how long I've been running... er, moving... my average page, distance, etc. So far it is working as a decent motivation technique and I like that it keeps track of everything.

After my run I had a salad and a yogurt fruit smoothie. Believe it or not, I DO actually like salad. And yes, there is lettuce under all those toppings!
